A Year of Running


If you followed my journey last year you would've noticed I did a whole lot of running. Almost every month I had a race to complete and it was the most fulfilling experience. I teamed up with Cancer Research and Race For Life to help raise money for the charity and also encourage others to get active, make a difference and  enjoy something new. 


I started off the year with a 10k race through London, The Winter Run. I remember it was a cold day but my heart felt so warm being surrounded by hundreds of other runners ready to do some good. Fast forward to summer and I did my first Race for Life run. It was a quick 5k literally just a 3 minute walk from my house so it felt amazing to be surrounded by familiar faces. 


Next up I tackled the 10k down in Portsmouth. It was a HOT day and I didn't think I could make it but I had my aunt by my side running with me so we kept each other going. It wasn't long until we did the 5k Pretty Muddy course in Guildford which was such good fun too, I can't wait to do another! 
Then to finish off the year I had my two toughest challenges. The 26 mile hike was the most difficult thing I have ever done. I've never pushed my body like this and I had no idea what to expect. I'd never been hiking and honestly I thought a day of walking wouldn't be too tough BUT BOY WAS I WRONG. I set off at 6am in the morning and I finally finished at 4pm that afternoon. Now I know you must be wondering how one would stay motivated to walk for a full on 10 hours well let me tell you, I could hardly stop whilst walking along side amazing women who had battled cancer themselves. Or ladies hiking for a loved one. 




And last but not least, the half marathon where I managed to get a faster time than ever before! This was originally meant to be my first full marathon but as I went through a family loss I took a break from training so wouldn't be able to make it through so I'm hoping to take on that challenge sometime this year!
